Vocational Education & Training

At Diamond Valley College, students have the opportunity from Year 10 engage in Vocational Education and Training (VET). VET provides practical, hands-on learning that builds real-world skills and industry knowledge, preparing students for both further study and the workplace. Students can pursue VET in either VCE or VCE VM, with some subjects being assessed with exams in line with scored VCE assessment.

Students at Diamond Valley College can access internally delivered VET such as Sport and Recreation or, Screen and Media (Games Development). Our students are also privileged to have direct access to the Northern Melbourne VET Cluster (NMVC). This cluster provides a wide scope of VET courses including fields such as Beauty Services, Electrotechnology, Building and Construction, Allied Health, Engineering. Our students can also draw on a range of VET courses on offer from the local TAFE provision, as well as VET courses beyond these offerings, with every effort made to support students find a suitable VET.

VET encourages students to apply their learning in authentic settings, giving them confidence, employability skills, and a competitive edge for the future. Students often find that the combination of classroom learning, and practical training, broadens their career choices, helps them develop independence, and enhances their readiness for life beyond school.

Our college is committed to supporting students to make informed choices about their VET and value it’s importance in a student’s journey. Students are also supported to participate in School Based Apprenticeships (SBATs).
