In Year 8, the focus shifts to how students connect with one another and deepen their engagement within our school community. Building on the foundations of Year 7, we emphasise fostering relationships, enhancing connections, and encouraging active participation in school life.
The Year 8 Core Learning program is designed to inspire curiosity, establish high expectations for academic achievement, and evaluate the impact of learning. Students continue to strengthen their essential skills, learning dispositions, and positive behaviours through a well-rounded program that prepares them for their future studies.
Year 8 Day Camps
Both Year 7 and Year 8 students participate in Day Camps designed to strengthen connections and teamwork. These camps provide opportunities for students to work collaboratively with different peers, take part in team building challenges, and engage in a variety of activities. The experience supports the development of confidence, resilience, and cooperation, while fostering a strong sense of belonging within our supportive school culture.
Curriculum
At Year 8, students continue to build on their learning through core year-long subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Language, Humanities, Elev8, and Physical Education. They also broaden their experiences with semester-based subjects, which include Music, Food Technology, Drama, Wood/Metals, and Art. This balanced program supports both academic progress and the development of practical, creative, and collaborative skills.
Personal Development Learning
In the Junior and Middle Subschools, all students participate in a Personal Development Learning subject. In Year 8, the PDL subject is Elevat8.
