School-wide Positive Behaviours (SWPB)

At Diamond Valley College, our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework helps us live out our school values of Collaboration, Curiosity, Caring and Confident every day.

Through Collaboration, we work together to create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment where every voice matters. With Curiosity, we embrace challenges and explore new ideas, fostering a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom. By showing Caring, we act with kindness, empathy and responsibility, ensuring that everyone feels valued and included. And with Confident, we believe in ourselves and one another, striving to do our best and celebrating growth and success.

Our SWPBS approach provides clear, positively framed expectations that reflect these values, guiding both our learning and our relationships. Together, we are building a community where students and staff thrive.

The SWPBS framework at Diamond Valley College prioritises:

  • Clear, positively stated expectations that reflect our school values:
    • Collaboration – we work together and support one another.
    • Curiosity – we engage actively in learning and explore new ideas.
    • Caring – we show kindness, respect and empathy for all.
    • Confident – we believe in ourselves and strive to do our best.
  • Recognising and celebrating students’ strengths—we actively catch students doing their best, making positive choices, and support them to keep striving for success.
  • A tiered approach to supports
    • Tier 1 (Universal): Supports for all students.
    • Tier 2 & 3: Targeted and individualised interventions for those needing more support.
These tiers are strengthened by our Wellbeing and Inclusion Team, who work closely with students and their families both in the classroom and in the planning of personalised support strategies.
  • A focus on teaching and reinforcing expected behaviours, rather than reacting to misbehaviour—keeping students in class, engaged and connected.
  • Data-informed practice, using real day-to-day occurrences to track student needs and provide timely, targeted support.
