About the Library's Reference Collection

The DVC Library is a valuable resource for all your essays and assignments. The Reference Collection in a Library is where you will find things like dictionaries and encyclopaedias, books that contain information about a huge range of subjects. Whether you are looking for vegetarian cook books, elements in the periodic table or up-to-date information on the greenhouse effect, the Library allows you to access information that helps you complete your current projec: all you need to know is where to look.

Print Reference :

The Library has subscriptions to many different newspapers and magazines. These are not allowed to be borrowed and so are always available for you to use. They include:

  • Daily papers The Age and Herald-Sun - kept for the last 3 months
  • Local papers such as The Diamond Valley Leader and Mountain Monthly
  • Magazines titles include New Scientist, Time and Bulletin, as well as Street Machine and Dolly

Online Reference:

Online or Electronic References are accessed using a computer, usually through the Internet. You often need a Username and a Password to logon. Online References are collections, or databases, of articles that are grouped by topic or subject. They usually use search engines, much like Google, to find the particular information you need.
