Hours of opening:

Our Library is open from 8.45am until 3.30pm each school day.

We are open at lunchtime for student use from 12.45pm to 1.10pm.

We are closed during recess.

You need to remain outside the Library until your Teacher arrives. Please wait quietly outside, away from the entrance, until Library staff open the door and your Teacher lets you in.

Mission statement
The Diamond Valley College Library offers a collaborative, vibrant and caring environment. As an integral part of the learning community we facilitate learning and teaching outcomes through intellectual and physical access to the highest possible level of resources.

The Library aims to enable students to be:

  • supported and encouraged to become independent learners confident in using a variety of resources including information technology
  • able to value learning as a lifelong process able to demonstrate appropriate information skills development
  • respected for their individual, religious and cultural differences

The Library program:

  • is centred on resource based units of work cooperatively planned with teachers and teacher librarians
  • is linked with information literacy skills, thinking skills, student learning outcomes and evidence based practice
  • promotes an enriched literature culture through a wide selection of fiction and provides opportunities for using literature enrichment activities.

Years 7-10
Books: 3 books for 2 weeks
Magazines: 2 books for 1 week
AV materials: overnight loan
* VCE Students may borrow 10 items for the same loan periods

Photocopying
You may purchase a photocopy card for $5. This will provide you about 90 copies.

You can make SINGLE black & white copies for 10c per A4 copy and 20c per A3 copies.
Single colour copies cost 20c for A4 and 40c for A3.

Printing
Printing is available on the library printer to students who have network printing credits.
Printing costs 10c per b&w page and 20c per colour page.
Print to the Library b&w laser printer (LIB-S1250) or the Library b&w/colour photocopier (Lib-PCopy).

AV Equipment
The library has a TV and DVD/Video player that can be booked for use in C1, C2 and the back of the library.
Teachers can also book the back section of the library to use the Interactive White Board (IWB) or arrange meetings for large groups of students.

Digital cameras (still and video), video cameras, cassette recorders and radio/cd players are available for loan from the library. You need a form signed by your teacher.
Videos and DVDs are available for overnight loan only.

Newspapers, Magazines & Articles Online
Daily newspapers are available in the library - Herald-Sun and The Age.
Print copies of newspapers are held for 3 months - if you need papers older than this, use our Newsbank service.
You can also pick up your FREE copy of The Age every day from the foyer of the library.

Current magazines and back copies are available in the library.
