What is the Diamond Valley College Bus Network?
The Diamond Valley College Bus Network consists of 8 Buses which pick
up and drop off students from areas such as St Andrews, Hurstbridge,
Panton Hill, Strathewen, Arthurs Creek, Kangaroo Ground, Christmas Hills,
Kinglake, Yarrambat, Doreen, Eltham, Eltham North, Research, Wattle
Glen, Diamond Creek and Greensborough (see map).
Students are dropped off at the College Bus Bay by 8.35am each morning
and the buses depart the college at 3.15pm each afternoon. The bus bays
are situated, kerbside, directly in front of the college. Bus routes
may be altered according to student intake. This must be approved by
the Department of Infrastructure. Bus Stops however may be changed after
consultation with the college and bus companies to accommodate new travellers.

How does my child know where to catch the bus? |
| Bus timetables are available detailing the bus stops. The timetables
include a Map reference and time for each stop. It is advised that
students arrive at least 5 minutes before the Bus is due to arrive
at their stop. Teachers are on duty, morning and afternoon, at
the College bus bay. |

What if my child wants to visit a friend who travels on the
bus?
Students requesting to use the bus service on an irregular basis to
visit friends etc. must bring a note and seek permission from the Bus
Coordinator. If space is available, a day pass will be provided at a
cost of $1.00 one way or $2.00 return. Bus travellers wishing to visit
a friend must also bring a note to the Bus Co-ordinator and obtain a
day pass for the bus required.

What type of bus pass does my child need to carry?
All Diamond Valley College Bus travellers must carry a valid ID Bus
Pass. A bus pass is valid only if the appropriate applications and payments
have been made each year. Fare paying travellers must present their
Bus Pass together with their Payment Card to the driver before boarding
a bus. Diamond Valley College Bus Pass ID photographs will be taken
on the school photographs day in February each year. The cost of a new
laminated pass is $7.00(expiring in 3 years). Non Diamond Valley College
students must obtain, from the college, either a laminated bus pass
valid for one year (free travellers) or a bus pass/payment card valid
for six months (fare paying travellers). All passes remain the property
of the college. Parents of students who do not have a valid bus pass
will need to make alternative travel arrangements.

How do I apply for my child to use the bus network?
All students, including casual travellers, intending to use the Diamond
Valley College Bus System must complete a yearly application
(one per family) and return the application to the Diamond Valley College
Bus Coordinator by the second Friday in October. New travellers and
travellers with ID Passes expiring in February must include ID card
payment with the application. Fare paying travellers must complete an
application each semester and return with payment.

They will be given a temporary pass to be used until the new pass arrives.

|
How much does it cost to use the bus network?
Free travel is available to all students attending their closest government
school and who reside more than 4.8km (by shortest practicable route)
from that school.

Can my child use the bus if they do not qualify for free travel? |
| If seats are available these may be allocated
to fare paying travellers. Fare paying travellers must include payments
per term with the application but ongoing travel is subject to
spare seat capacity and ongoing fare payment. Those ineligible for
free travel must make application with payment per term. Once payment
and application is received, those applicants will be notified if travel
is available. Because some students
do not require bus travel on every day, payment is calculated according
to the number of trips per week. Please use the table to the right
to calculate the payment due. For example, if your child travels on
the bus one day a week this is two trips and equals $15.00 per term.
Please note that these costs are per term (approximately 10 weeks travel)

What if my child is not a DVC student?
Applications to travel are available to download from the DVC website,
but must be returned with payment to your own school. Priority is
given to DVC students, with spare seats only being
allocated term by term on a first come, first served basis to other
travellers. Seats are only allocated once payment has been forwarded
to DVC by the school concerned.

What other conditions of travel apply?
All bus travellers, whether they are College students or not, must
adhere to the College's Conditions
of Travel and the College Code
of Conduct. Students and parents applying for bus travel must sign
their acceptance of these conditions, which include carrying and
presenting the correct pass and payment card (if appropriate),
obeying the bus driver and supervising teachers, behaving safely
at all times, and setting an appropriate example to younger students.
